HANDBOOK
Welcome to Just thrive. We are so happy to have you and your child/ren here. Please have a read-through to help you feel well-prepared for the start of your dance journey here and the culture of the studio.
All info regarding classes, timetables, shows, etc. is all found on our app. Please search and download the app Just Thrive through the play store or apple store. You will need to register and sign up if you have not done so. Through here you are able to enroll for classes each term and exams when it comes to that time. If you do not pay when you register on the app it will not enroll the student into the classes. If you are wanting to pay at the studio please contact admin@justthrive.co.nz so we can make sure your student is enrolled and doesn't miss out on a spot.
Class times can change slightly from term to term please ensure you check carefully as you enroll and please make sure you have enrolled before the term starts. All fees need to be paid by the end of each term in order to enroll for the new term. If you are needing to set up a payment plan please email accounts - accounts@justthrive.co.nz to get this sorted. If Covid19 affects the ability to provide lessons in the studio, then lessons will become digital. There will be no refund in fees where digital classes are able to be provided.
Studio Etiquette
We are a kind inclusive dance school, where we believe there is a place for everyone who loves to dance. Please always be kind and respectful to each other, and encourage each other. We do not condone any unkind talk or behavior toward any dancers, parents or teachers, from any dancers, parents or teachers.
There is NO smoking or vaping on Just thrive grounds.
Parents are welcome to watch classes, we ask you are quiet and respectful to not disturb the class or distract the students. If you would like to talk while the class is on we ask that you take those conversations outside.
In the large studio, there is seating to sit on. Please keep the walkway areas clear.
In the smaller studio there are 3 seats available, if these are full please use the waiting areas and playroom area. Please do not sit on the studio floor we need the full floor area for the dancers.
Class Attire
- For all classes we ask that your child is inappropriate dance wear. e.g no baggy t-shirts and pants. As teachers, we need to be able to see the body in order to correct positioning and alignment. Leotards are preferred for all dance classes.
- Dance shoes need to be worn for the correct genres, these help you be able to dance and turn correctly and have the feel of the shoes. Please see below for correct dancewear and footwear. We have a dancewear store in the studio, all shoes and other dancewear requirements are available to be purchased here.
- Hair needs to be tied back and off the face for all dance classes.
- Please be on time and ready to start with shoes on and hair done.
Exam Information
You will be asked during term 2 whether your child would like to sit exams. Exams generally run between the middle to end of September. You will be able to register for the applicable exam classes and any medal tests through the app.

Showtime
Show time is such a fun time of year, Term 4 is solely focused on our end-of-year show. It is not compulsory for all students to take part in the end-of-year show but we encourage this it's a really fun time for the kids to show off the skills and techniques they have worked on so hard over the year. Each student taking part in the show is required to attend any extra rehearsals.
We run 2-3 shows over the 1 day, It is a big day for the kids but so much fun. Due to space and the amount of students we have, we do not have the room to accommodate all parents backstage. Each age group will be assigned 1-2 helpers for each show there will be a chance to sign up to help with this during term 4. Your dancers will be well looked after and kept safe. Additional info will be sent out beforehand with everything you need to know for the day.
Costumes
Most costumes are hired out, hire fee costs are handed out in term 4 and this charge is on top of your term fees. Costumes will not be handed out until fees and costume hire fees are paid in full. All costumes are to be returned at the final performance after the show (unless they are your own costume). All costumes hired out are the property of Just thrive, please look after them otherwise there will be a charge to replace them.
